Forest Lake is a northern suburb with an actual lake in the middle of it, a historic downtown along Lake Street, and newer construction spreading out along I-35 and to the north. The housing is a mix of old cottages around the lake, post-war single-stories in the core, and 1990s-to-present subdivisions farther out.
